Milan is not only the capital of fashion and design, but has a gastronomic tradition that puts the city firmly on the top for the best Aperitivo in the world thanks to its many trendy venues and restaurants.
What is Aperitivo?
My favorite Italian tradition, a pre-dinner drinking tradition accompanied with some savory pastries, sweet amuse-bouche, cold cuts and so on. A lively affair with friends, a social event that makes it happier than happy hour.
When to Aperitivo?
Usually it’s between 7-9 pm but you are free to prolong it and to continue it until dinner for that unforgettable experience.
I enjoyed my Aperitivo experience to the hilt when in Milan, from the very chic bars to small casual bars and here, I share some of my favorite spots in the Fashion Capital to enjoy your Negroni and hors d’oeuvres.
- Bulgari Hotel: Arguably the city’s best for aperitivo. The contemporary interiors with a very popular garden and haute cuisine treats offer a unique experience, making this is my favorite mingling spot in Milan.
- Four Seasons Hotel Milan: The Il Foyer lounge at the Four Seasons, a former 15th century convent is a stunning place to indulge in memorable moments with your drink and friends, you’ll find an array of complimentary snacks here too.
- Sheraton Diana Majestic: One of the most vibrant social scenes around, set amidst an amazing lush garden with a lovely stone fountain, they also have a lovely buffet that suits the discerning taste of the Milanese glam-set.
- Palazzo Parigi : A combination of modern style, elegance and sophistication, do stop by their fancy lounge “CAFFÉ PARIGI” and cincin!
You also can catch up in cozy environs in the Navigli District where bars are more casual and intimate. The food is mostly served in an open buffet style with pizzas, lasagna, crudites, cold cuts and more on offer.
